Addy is such a hoot. She loves posing for the camera. Lately, Addy has been so much fun. She has been staying up longer during the day where she showers mommy with many smiles.

Yike, IKE, IKE, IKE, IKE...
Well, to start off with, we are definitely fine and dandy here in Katy. Hurricane Ike did make his self known, but in the end, his remains can always be fixed, replaced, and cleaned. To give you a little info. on how we spent our night, I thought I'd blog "our story".
I guess with the last hurricane just being a "teaser", personally, I didn't get too caught up in the preparation and hype of Ike. I just thought I'd hear and see some wind and rain. Needless to say, Yatshi, Peanut, and I spent the night in the closet. Michael was on watch, which was a good thing, because we did end up having a hole in our roof from a vent or air duct thing being ripped off our roof. This leading to water coming into the attic and making its way down to the first floor. Yes, we have some water damage on our roof and inside on the ceiling, but the husband did his best and ended up "saving" our new carpet that we just put in in April. It was a mess (for all of us OCD people). The morning after, I woke up thinking, "Man, that's what a hurricane is like?" with the no big deal attitude. Well, then I walked into the livingroom where I saw all of our towels on the floor and a trashcan catching dripping water. I could feel the "OCD" kicking inside of me, like we had to get this cleaned up asap. Then, Michael told me to look outside...shingles everywhere, fences blown down (not ours to our surpise), our big pine tree in the backyard half standing and the other half on our house. All in all, we made out great. We only ended up losing power for about a day. Like I said before, the damage that we did have can always be fixed, replaced, or cleaned. Our lives and safety are what we are really thankful for.

Our Ladybug's Room
After much thought, paintbuckets, trips to Katy (from mom and aunt), and yards of ribbon, our sweet little ladybug's room is finished. Thanks to her grandma and Aunt Betty, Addy's room is painted to perfection. Here are some pictures of how it turned out.
We can't wait to bring our ladybug home, so she can see her room "designed" especially for her. We know she'll love it as much as her daddy and I do. I guess you could say that Peanut really loves her room too. He seems to have claimed his spot already.

Pocket Full of Sunshine...
Quick story...I was on my way home from work today. It's been pretty stressful seeing that school is starting on Monday, and I've been in meeting after meeting since last Wednesday. Needless to say, there hasn't been much time to work in my room or take care of other"demands" that need to be completed. Okay, enough of that. Anyway, when I feel overwhelmed, one thing I like to do is listen to music REALLY LOUD and sing to the top of my lungs. Try it sometimes. Well, the song Pocket Full of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield came on, and Addy went absolutely crazy. It was the funniest thing. She was moving and kicking like she was dancing. I think it's her favorite song. I played it over and over for her, and she continued to be very active. I guess we can say that the girl has some great "moves" and taste in music. :)

Capri, It Will Be...
Well, about two weeks ago, we finally decided on our baby girl's name. She will be Adalyn Capri Hodge. In the end, Michael ended up naming her. I've already put dibs on the next kid though. Capri is Italian, and it means playful. That we think our daughter is already.
To catch you guys up, we went for another ultrasound on the 11th of August. Adalyn was a hoot. She was moving around like crazy. You could see her sucking, yawning, and she even got the hiccups. What an awesome sight she was. Her little arms were behind her head, and her little long legs were stretched out (as usual) and crossed at the bottom. She is definitely using all her space up that she can. I'll have to post her recent "pictures" soon. Otherwise, we just can't wait for our baby girl to get here. So many smiles she is already bringing us.

Daddy's Lil Addy...
When Michael and I found out that we were first pregnant, baby names immediately started bouncing around in my head. Kinsley, Brilee, Jaxs, Meekah were just a few. As I shared these ideas with Michael, I could see that naming our kid was not going to be an easy task. So, to save a lot of "troubles", we decided to wait until we found out if she would be a he or a she.
After finding our we were having a girl, the name game started again. I knew I wanted something different and unique. Michael wanted something with great meaning, different, but not too off the wall. Needless to say, he was not "agreeing" with the names I suggested. He would say in an English accent, "We are not from England." Oh my, oh my, oh my...
On our way to dinner one night, Michael said that he had an idea for a name. So far, he hadn't given any suggestions, but always had some kind of "comment" about mine. Then, he said the name Adalyn. At first, I wasn't so sure about it. It sounded like a nice name with a ring to it. It was different. Then, he proceeded to talk about the meaning, and he seemed really excited about this name.
The next day, the name Adalyn was starting to grow on me. I guess I finally came to the conclusion that I was not going to get my Kinsley. I think this was the first time I couldn't beg or "whine" my way into getting what I wanted. :) Then, I thought about how special it would be for Michael to name our first child, seeing that he waited 37 years for this moment in life. Ha Ha Ha! So, I took one of Adalyn's ultrasound pictures, found a frame that said, "I Love Daddy", put her name at the top, and wrapped it up as a gift for him. When he opened his "prize", I could tell that that was a special moment for him. He turned to me and said, "So, it's official. Her name is going to be Adalyn."
So, this is how Adalyn was named. Her name means noble/brings happiness. We decided that we would call her Addy while she's a lil, but she can decide what she wants to go by when she gets older. I can tell already that she is going to be daddy's lil Addy.
*We haven't decided on a definate middle name just yet. I'm sure there will be another long story to share for that.

Our Lil Sweet Pea...
On the 17th of June, we went to the hospital to find out the sex of our lil sweet pea. She's a GIRL! The nurse doing the ultrasound told Michael to "get your shotgun ready." At first, I was confused (go figure). But, I did soon catch on.
While we were watching her on the ultrasound screen, she moved the entire time. Her little arms and legs were going to town. She had a strong heartbeat and great movement. She is our little blessing from above.

"The Day" a Girl Dreams About...
Even though several months have passed, I thought that I'd share a few photos from our wedding. It was truly "the day" a girl dreams about. God definitely played a huge role in our lives during this very special time.
After deciding to have our wedding "here", rather than a destination wedding, 3 months later we were sharing our big day with our family and friends. Everything, from "the dress" to the location, all seemed to have fallen into place perfectly. It was the big guy in the sky that had our plans layed out before we even knew it. How great is He!
My favorite memory about my wedding day would have to be the moment I saw my husband. It seemed like God pressed pause on life to allow me the opportunity to take in the moment. He knew that I waited patiently for this very special day. As I made my way down the stairs, up the aisle, and stood next to my husband, I could see the happiness and love in his teared filled eyes. I will never forget the look in my husband's baby blues. He is my all!
